| Why use a cream for hyperpigmentation? |
| Hyperpigmentation may be caused by sun damage, inflammation, or other skin injuries, including those related to acne (PIH or post inflammatory hyperpigmentation). People with darker Asian, East Indian, Mediterranean or African skin tones are also more prone to hyperpigmentation, especially if they have excess sun exposure .Fortunately there are products in the marketplace to diminish the appearance of hyperpigmentation and in some cases get rid of it altogether. We strongly recommend an all natural product and a reasonable test period. The reason some people report poor results from skin lightening products is normally because they expected overnight results. There is not a skin lightening product on the market today that will diminish your hyperpigmentation overnight regardless of the marketing claims. For general overall hyperpigmentation treatment we strongly suggest purchasing more than one unit as you will be using more of the product than someone treating a smaller area such as the face. You will also save considerable $$$ when purchasing more than one bottle because most products have a multiple unit discount. |
| What melasma cream and treatments are safe? |
The market place is full of hyperpigmentation products that contain dangerous and potentially harmful chemicals like Hydroquinone and Mercury. Products contain those ingredients have been banned in some countries because of potential health risks. We strongly suggest avoiding those ingredients. If you must use Hydroquinone use a product with 2% or less for safety. Under no circumstances should you use any lightener that has Mercury. Mercury is very poisonous to the human body.
The safe ingredients that are used are Alpha and Beta Arbutin, Gigawhite, Kojic Acid, Azaelaic Acid, and Glutathione. These naturally occurring substances are the most effective and therefore are most commonly used. While these may cause a slight irritation to those with extra sensitive skin because of the exfoliating properties they are generally considered very safe effective for all skin types.
We have reviewed several of the hyperpigmentation creams and treatments on the market and chosen the three that represent the best combination of cost and effectiveness. |
